Adalyst connects to Google Ads through Google's sign-in. You switch on the customer accounts to include, Adalyst analyses their performance alongside your other channels, and a workspace admin can allow supported changes to be prepared and published after review.
Before you begin
- You are a workspace admin in Adalyst. Only admins can connect, disconnect or switch accounts on.
- Your Google user can access the Google Ads customer accounts you want to analyse, directly or through a manager account.
How to connect
Open Connections
In Adalyst, open Settings, then Connections, and find Google Ads under Ad platforms.
Sign in with Google
Choose a Google user that can access your advertising accounts.
Approve Google's consent screen
One Google approval covers both Google Ads and Google Analytics. Adalyst returns you to Connections when it is complete.
Switch on your customer accounts
Expand Google Ads and switch on each customer account to include. Accounts under a manager account are listed individually; the manager account itself cannot be selected. Nothing syncs until an account is switched on.
Questions
What does Adalyst read from Google Ads?
Campaign structure, spend, clicks, conversions, search terms, keywords, Performance Max assets, device and location breakdowns, change history and Google's own recommendations.
Can Adalyst change my Google Ads campaigns?
Yes, once a workspace admin allows it in Settings, then Google Ads. Prepare Google Ads changes lets Adalyst draft changes; Publish approved Google Ads changes lets approved drafts go live. Supported changes include pausing and enabling campaigns, ad groups, ads and keywords, budgets, bidding, negative keywords, locations, audiences and assets, and creating paused Search and Performance Max campaigns. Every change is checked again immediately before it is published.
Why does Google ask for access to manage my account?
Google Ads offers a single permission for both reading and changing accounts. Adalyst only changes an account when your workspace has allowed it and someone approves the specific change.
How is Google Analytics related to this connection?
Google Ads and Google Analytics appear as separate sources, each with its own account or property selection, but one Google approval connects both. Disconnecting Google Ads also disconnects Google Analytics.
Troubleshooting
- A customer account is missing
- Check that your Google user can open that account in Google Ads. If it sits under a manager account, look for it listed under that manager's ID.
- An account shows Not syncing or Reconnect needed
- Open the Google Ads row menu and choose Sync to fetch data again, or Reconnect to approve access again.
